Newcastle United considering ditching star striker for Ivory Coast star
Newcastle United are looking to replace want-away striker Demba Ba with fellow African forward Seydou Doumbia, according to TalkSPORT.
However, the North East club face a three-way battle for his signature with Italian sides Lazio and Napoli also apparently keen on the Ivory Coast international star.
The CSKA Moscow striker, who is valued at around £16m, first caught the eye in Switzerland as he netted 57 goals in two seasons for Young Boys.
His fine form resulted in a big money move to Russia and he has maintained his excellent scoring record after scoring 26 last season in Moscow.
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is a known fan of the hitman and had scouts watching him during CSKA’s last three games as he evaluates his options ahead of the January transfer window.
Ba, who joined the Toon at the start of last season, has recently hinted that he would have to be a regular in Pardew’s line-up in order to stay at the Sports Direct Arena.
