Chelsea target Spanish youngster
Chelsea are winning the race to sign Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang, according to TalkSport.
Roberto Di Matteo is undertaking a youthful revolution at Stamford Bridge after capturing two of football’s hottest prospects this summer, Eden Hazard and Oscar and he wants to continue this by capturing Obiang in January.
The 20-year-old originates from Equatorial Guinea but was born in Spain and has already represented La Roja at Under-17 and Under-19 level. His Samp contract does not expire until June 2015, but the Italian club have already declared that he would be available if the right offer was made.
However, Chelsea boss Di Matteo will face competition for the Spaniard from Manchester City with Roberto Mancini rumoured to be a big fan of the midfielder.
The Blues have reportedly lined up a triple swoop for three of Sampdoria’s brightest starlets with Obiang top of a list that also includes 21-year-old defensive midfielder Roberto Soriano and Serbian youngster Nenad Krsticic.
