Newcastle United claim no move for Toulouse star
ESPN are reporting that any deal to bring Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko to Newcastle United in January are – for the moment – wide of the mark.
Earlier in the day, the Daily Mail claimed a deal was done and dusted, however, Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has refuted claims and put to bed speculation suggesting a deal had been wrapped-up for the powerful French international.
Pardew said it was “news to me” when questioned if any transfer had been completed after Newcastle’s late 2-1 triumph over West Brom on Sunday.
Sissoko is midway through his final year on his contract at Toulouse and is free to speak with any clubs outside of his native France from January 1. The midfield enforcer has also been rumoured to be interesting Liverpool and Tottenham – as well as Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
The 23-year-old has five caps for France and could be seen as a possible replacement for Cheik Tiote with the Ivory Coast star attracting attention from Manchester United.
