The weekend in France – Late Lisandro goal seals Lyon win
Lisandro Lopez slammed home a winner against Montpellier three minutes into injury time, which means Lyon are now unbeaten in nine games; moving them up to third, their highest position in the league so far this season.
Meanwhile, Lille returned to the top of the standings with an extraordinary 6-3 win at home to Lorient. Senegal striker Moussa Sow claimed a hat-trick, taking his tally to 13 goals for the season.
Paris Saint-Germain climbed to second place in Ligue 1 with a 3-1 defeat of Brest on Saturday. PSG took a fifth-minute lead at Parc des Princes when Nene (remember him!) slammed home a delightful volley. However, it would take Ludovic Giuly’s 76th minute strike to seal the victory.
Marseille were looking to climb to the top of the table this evening, however, a shock was on the cards as Didier Deschamps’ side crashed to a last-gasp 1-0 loss at Nice. In the second minute of injury time, Anthony Mounier’s cutback was side-footed home by the unmarked Emerse Fae.
Currently, only four points separate the top 10 in Ligue 1! Fascinating stuff.
Other results:
St Etienne 2-2 Bordeaux
Arles 1-1 AS Nancy
Lens 1-1 Auxuerre
Sochaux 2 – 1 Valenciennes
Rennes 1 – 0 Monaco
Toulouse 1 – 0 Caen
