Who are ya? Nenê
Nenê, aka Anderson Luis de Carvalho, is a 29-year-old Brazilian winger currently plying his trade at Paris St Germain in Ligue 1. This left-footed midfielder has netted a whopping 10 goals in 17 fixtures this season and ultimately shows no signs of holding up. Don’t be surprised if his devilish crossing and exceptional ability from set pieces soon catches the eye of one the big boys.
Beginning his career in his native country for Palmeiras and Santos, like most South Americans, Nenê soon made the trip to Spain to play for Mallorca in 03/04. Following two seasons with the men in red, grabbing a respectable nine goals in 29 league games, the light-weight midfielder packed his bags as he was transferred to Alaves.
Two seasons and a relegation and promotion later, Nenê was on his way again, this time to Celta Vigo who he would only remain at for the 06/07 campaign. Before long, manager Ricardo Gomes spotted the talent whilst managing Monaco and decided to take a punt on the fellow Brazilian. He was right to do so as he was initially rewarded with nine goals in 10 matches. However, his form soon dried up and he was shipped back off to Spain for an unsuccessful loan spell with Espanyol.
In the summer of this year, Nenê received strong interest from Paris St Germain and the technically-gifted winger was snapped up for a bargain fee of just £4.7million. Seven league goals later, and the Spanish and Brazilian football federations are now battling it out for his passport.
