The Premier League weekend starts at the Emirates on Saturday lunchtime as Arsenal entertain Newcastle United.

Mikel Arteta’s side will be looking to bounce back from their 0-4 humbling at Liverpool last weekend as they welcome to the only winless side to the capital.

Newcastle have taken six points from their 12 matches but earned a respectable 3-3 draw at home to Brentford last weekend despite new manager Eddie Howe having to take charge of the game from his hotel room due to Covid protocols.

The lineups for today’s game are confirmed as:

Aaron Ramsdale; Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White, Gabriel, Nuno Tavares; Bukayo Saka, Thomas Partey, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Emile Smith Rowe; Martin Odegaard; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Substitutes: Bernd Leno, Kieran Tierney, Rob Holding, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Mohamed Elneny, Nicolas Pepe, Gabriel Martinelli, Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nkietiah

Martin Odegaard replaces Alexandre Lacazette in the only change from their trip to Anfield, which could see the Gunners playing in a 4-5-1 formation today.

The manager has several attacking options on the bench, including three strikers – Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli, as well as winger Nicolas Pepe.

A comfortable home victory has been many people’s Arsenal versus Newcastle prediction in the lead up to the game.

Newcastle United

Martin Dubravka; Fabian Schar, Jamaal Lascelles, Emil Frafth; Ryan Fraser, Joe Willock, Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie, Joelinton, Callum Wilson, Allain Saint-Maximin

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Ciaran Clark, Jamal Lewis, Isaac Hayden, Jeff Hendrick, Javier Manquillo, Jacob Murphy, Miguel Almiron, Sean Longstaff

Martin Dubravka makes his first start of the season for the visitors as Karl Darlow drops to the bench.

Eddie Howe may be going with a 3-4-2-1 formation today, or Ryan Fraser could be moved into a right-back role in a back four. Either way, the defence doesn’t look too strong.

The Magpies will be looking to hurt Arsenal on the break with their pace through the likes of Callum Wilson and Allain Saint-Maximin.
