The weekend in France – Lyon earn PSG draw
In arguably the biggest clash of the weekend, two of France’s most prestigious sides met when Lyon and Paris St Germain came face to face. Despite a thrilling encounter, both teams were inseparable as the entertaining contest finished 2-2.
Lyon took the lead through Aly Cissokho, although PSG soon levelled through Nene (we spotted him first!) – the Brazilian netting his seventh league goal of the season. Antoine Kombouaré’s side looked to have grabbed all three points late on when Cissokho saw red for conceding a penalty, which Guillaume Hoarau tucked away with ease. However, there was to be another twist in the tale as Bafetimbi Gomis pounced on a error to snatch an 87th minute equaliser.
Marseille moved to the top of Ligue 1 on goal difference after a comfortable 4-0 win at home to Montpellier who moved down a place into fourth. Goals from Lucho Gonzalez and Mathieu Valbuena, amongst others.
Title contenders Lille slipped up with a 1-1 draw away at Bordeaux. Twenty-four-year-old Moussa Sow netting for the 10th time already this season.
Elsewhere, joint top scorer – also with 10 goals – Youssef El Arabi was unable to prevent Caen from losing 0-3 at home to Sochaux. The result leaves Caen struggling in 19th place, with just one home win to their name all season.
Other results:
Lorient 2-0 Rennes
Monaco 1-1 Nice
Valenciennes 3-0 Arles
AS Nancy 1-1 St Etienne
Auxerre 1-2 Toulouse
